Originally opened about 1926 as a visitors information center and gas station. In the late 1930’s it became the home of Mojave Deserts “Poet Laureate” Alice Richards Salisbury. Then it was Ma Millet’s Café that served all-you-can-eat meals for 50 cents. The restaurant closed in 1947.
