A fire in December 1947 destroyed the Kozy Cottage Camp cabins, store, and service station at this site in 1947. Shortly afterwards Bob Harris, an employee, acquired the property and began building a café. Resultant of a limited budget, he used salvaged materials including an air control tower with cantilevered doors at a Amarillo Army Airfield auction. The café closed in the 1970s.
